All of my eye surgery (two cataracts, subsequent capsulotomy, and a retina reattachment years later) was done with just local (if any) anaesthetic.) 3:O)> The only difficulty was applying the eyedrops afterwards, being on my own, and ended up lying on the floor looking up and dripping them in before blinking a few times to distribute the drops over the eyeball. That worked OK.
