Why does America not understand that killing babies is not going to convince the people of Cuba to overthrow their government? It's just going to get them to hate America for an eternity.

Americans understand it perfectly, and "leaders" of America also understand it perfectly. The disconnect is that Americans think the worldwide hatred of America is a bug, whereas the "leaders" of America see it as a feature. They are attacking Cuba, yes, but the ultimate target is the US.
