@Cy_Cyborg@lgbtqia.space Okay, I'm gonna say it outright. That Novideo GPU may mean you're simply SOL. If you use wayland, you may also simply be SOL.
Driver compatibility depends on what exact GPU it is and whether the overlords at Novideo have decided to grant us the privilege of supporting it.
There are two types of drivers:
Nouveau (the FOSS driver), which supports more older cards, but isn't always great for compute because our corporate overlords deemed it unnecessary to allow it.
Nvidia's closed source drivers, which have a limited set of primarily modern GPUs they support. These drivers support compute quite well, but are hell to get working.
I don't have the expertise for Nvidia myself, but the NixOS wiki together with the arch wiki tend to be quite a great starting point. It's also the resources I'd use myself If I had to start dealing with it.

@siblingsofthevoid@void.lgbt I didn’t think to check the arch Linux wiki, thanks. The gpu is an RTX 4060 + integrated intel gpu. From what I read before trying Nix, the closed-source drivers were better for it but I’m very much seeing what you mean about them being hell to get working. I also gave up on wayland with Nvidia really early on, x11 was the only one that I could get even remotely stable. I really hope I can get it working, I do not want to go back to windows 😂
