Choosing alternatives to #bigTech made me realise how uncomfortable people are with change. They get confused when the UI is different, and think it looks old and difficult.
I talk to people who try to move away from #Google, #Meta or #Microslop but fail because the friction is too great.
The ability to learn and adapt to new Software is a skill. The better we get at it, the more we future-proof ourselves against #enshittification.

@pierre_pebble@mastodon.ie It's also why we need to show appreciation to open source UX designers who try and make their interfaces use the same muscle memory as Big Tech's products. If everything is in the same spot it's easier to switch people over.
