seeing people add "no hallucinations" to a prompt for "ai" garbage is very very funny to me, you might as well say "pretty please with sugar on top," fucking clowns

  • @dumpsterqueer I had to explain that to a friend who is not a tech person at all, who was routinely appending "please give me your sources and do not hallucinate" to his prompts. Marketing has really done a lot of work to confuse people about what these things do and how they work.

    @dumpsterqueer Because work makes me use LLMs (booo 👎 ), I have developed some prompts that make it less bad. I have had moderate success with configuration prompts that have it warn me if i make request with an elevated risk of incorrect hallucination. I am a bit resentful at the amount of work i have to put into making this alleged tool less unuseful

  • @dumpsterqueer@gts.superseriousbusiness.org The worst part is: due to the absolute bizarro nature of these things, it'll probably help too. Not a lot, and it might even make it perform worse in some cases, but still: someone somewhere will notice a 2% decrease in mistakes and feel vindicated.
