Came across this today: On 19 June 2026, a EU Directive is becoming effective which mandates that leaving an online service must be just as easy as joining.
Ruby in the video talks about the positive ("The end of #Enshittification ?") and negative effects ("regulatory moat", i.e. setting compliance requirements too high for smaller companies).
I wonder what form of malicious compliance will big tech come up with for this ...

The EU Directive is 2023/2673. As far as I can tell, the key is article 37: > "This should ensure that consumers can withdraw from a contract just as easily as they can conclude it." https://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/dir/2023/2673/oj/eng
