Holy crap, getting wifi to work on Linux is still as painful as it was 20 years ago. 1) Need to compile and install out-of-tree driver 2) Need to fiddle with modules.d config files to get the correct regulatory region applied for 6 GHz to connect (after two other suggested fix failed to work) All this for a lab/test setup.

    @RMerlin I think the specific wifi hardware can make a huge difference in this area. I've had laptops where I just bailed immediately and bought an Intel wifi card to swap in, for example. I know this doesn't help you but it can also go super easy on Linux.
