Living on a farm, Maurice needs to be able to keep equipment running for as long as there's life in it. The crops and the weather don't take a break while he waits for a service technician and they definitely won't loan him money to spring for shiny new replacements. So consider walking a mile in his hooves before you wax poetic about the "simplicity" of country life. Not that he'd begrudge you a poem. He still wouldn't have it any other way.
