@benroyce TBF, NATO is supposedly the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, but some of its members are nowhere close to the Atlantic Ocean. Also, states that are not geographically in Europe are considered to be part of the EU in some specific cases. For example, for research funding, both Japan and Israel are considered as being part of the EU.
