I got &quot;mild&quot; covid just over 6 years ago it never got better, only worse I&#39;ve been ill 24/7 for 6 years I&#39;ve been housebound and alone 24/7 for 6 years and it breaks my heart that so many people still do nothing to protect themselves and others from the risk of (long) covid, and are unwilling to support those of us already affected because they can&#39;t imagine it will happen to them, can&#39;t imagine being disabled/chronically ill themselves when you&#39;re healthy it&#39;s hard to imagine you too could be affected by chronic illness and disability but the reality is that all of us are vulnerable, none of us are safe just because we don&#39;t deserve it happening to us, and all of us have a responsibility to keep each other safe those that insist it &quot;won&#39;t happen to them&quot; and that they don&#39;t have any responsibility to prevent it happening to anyone else either are victim-blaming

@obfusk@tech.lgbt just to reinforce the "we are all vulnerable" bit for people reading, I went from being able to play the violin while standing for 6~9 hours a day multiple days in a row to being almost entirely bedridden because of long covid :frog_sus: review of long covid: -3/10, would not recommend, long covid is dumb and it mugs you with friends in tow :zerotwo_dead:

@obfusk@tech.lgbt i once tried getting my roommates to wear a mask (me and @niko@gts.niko.lgbt actually) and they literally said they don't want to out of convenience. this is fucking vancouver by the way it's packed to the brim with people and uh. yeah i have long covid and am immunocompromised

@obfusk@tech.lgbt got it from family member both times I am so pissed people just "let it spread" in the house because it's "inevitable you get it" Every second we feel ill or sick (probably majority of the time) we spend wishing we didn't have to go through this bullshit

@obfusk@tech.lgbt I got sick long before covid. And early in the pandemic, I read reports of people suffering from symptoms similar to mine after having caught the virus. So I instinctly knew that I had to stear clear of it. So spent those years pretty isolated. But did joke about negative x negative = positive, so it might have cured me. But wasn’t willing to take the chance.

@obfusk@tech.lgbt I have long COVID too. The disease almost killed me and left me with lifelong irreversible damage. It’s… better than it once was, but I will never be 100%. Honestly, tangentially the fact we don’t take any disease seriously is upsetting. I got mono and that’s when my lupus symptoms began (got diagnosed after way, way too long, and it finally got that bad).
