ps: fwiw, my mask of choice whenever leaving home is a flo mask, as the elastomeric seal makes sure all air entering and leaving my precious lungs gets filtered. Cloth masks, like the one in my profile pic, fit over it nicely for a touch of style variety. Plus, an added bonus of constant n99 filtering is that I no longer need daily allergy meds. Ofc wearing a mask also helps protect others as well, but I wrote the above post while feeling particularly salty about germ theory deniers who would (sometimes literally) get up in my face about my efforts to protect their health because it hurts their feelings to see reminders of their own physical vulnerability and a subtle call-out to their own complicity in perpetuating a deadly plague. This tertiary effect is a small bonus when I'm feeling salty. My choice to mask up is usually driven by purer feelings of compassion for my fellow humans, though the end result of better controlling what enters and leaves my body is the same.

@dotjayne@tech.lgbt I have bad news for you. Mask is for the others to live. Assholes without masks still endanger you. Unless you wear proper respirator, glasses and I don't know what other parts of body must be covered to prevent an infection. Much easier to protect others than to protect self in this case, but assholes will never protect others. So I guess the only option is to live and let live, die and let die. Mask or not.
