@dotjayne@tech.lgbt I have bad news for you. Mask is for the others to live. Assholes without masks still endanger you. Unless you wear proper respirator, glasses and I don't know what other parts of body must be covered to prevent an infection. Much easier to protect others than to protect self in this case, but assholes will never protect others. So I guess the only option is to live and let live, die and let die. Mask or not.

@dormouse759@mas.to @dotjayne@tech.lgbt I can't believe I'm saying this in 2025, but wearing a mask protects both the wearer and others. Source: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32737790 Even if it didn't: their body, their choice.

@dormouse759@mas.to @dotjayne@tech.lgbt Studies have shown that wearing a properly fitting N95 mask does lower the risk of catching airborne viruses for the wearer. So wearing a mask is not just for others. Even the CDC mentions it here: https://www.cdc.gov/respiratory-viruses/prevention/masks.html Yes, it would benefit us all a lot more if those who were sick wore masks, or yet, just stayed home, but that does not negate the benefits of the things we can control - like masking, vaccines, and limiting exposure .
