If I could bind everyone to my idiosyncratic platform design preferences, I’d want an exponential back-off for active users’ post/boost time and what’s sent to followers.
Space out the posts from high-frequency users to leave some bandwidth in the reverse chron timeline for everyone else!

@bkeegan @imjane do you remember when I made slowtweet.com? it did almost exactly this, and was made for the way twitter used to be, which is kind of how mastodon is now. I definitely think the mechanics of mastodon, especially regarding boosting as a pseudo-replacement for the algorithm would benefit from playing with time and also somehow dealing with (suppressing) repeats
