    @bkeegan @boulderreportinglab Speaking for Durham and Chapel Hill on your final chart, it's a somewhat misleading comparison given that both cities, but particularly Durham, engaged in a truly aggressive annexation campaign designed to capture extensive suburban growth in the county, particularly related to the construction of I-40. The "old," central parts of both towns had low or negative growth until the aughts when it reversed post-housing crisis.
