Point of information: The Republican Party has already spent far more on protecting a single U.S. Senate seat in Texas than the TOTAL cost of the 2000 Presidential election for BOTH Al Gore and George W. Bush COMBINED.

Even if you adjust the 2000 POTUS race for inflation, it looks like total spending for Paxton & Talarico combined will end up surpassing it (Gore + GWB combined would be around $292 million adjusted for inflation.).
