Even if you adjust the 2000 POTUS race for inflation, it looks like total spending for Paxton & Talarico combined will end up surpassing it (Gore + GWB combined would be around $292 million adjusted for inflation.).

By comparison, the 2024 Presidential election cost a stunning $5.5 billion. I can’t even fathom how much will be spent on the 2028 POTUS race. I could see it surpassing $10 billion. www.pbs.org/newshour/liv... The cost of this election
