At my first salaried job, we paid something like 500 GBP for a lil' HP tower server to live in the corner of our office. We installed Debian on it and used it to host our git repos and run builds. 6 years later it was still running fine when I left. For 2.5 devs that works out at about 2.78 GBP per dev-month. Unrelated, GitHub is down again and their enterprise plan costs over 21 USD/dev-month.

The thing was basically free to operate too, we spent <<0.5hr/month applying patches, had a fairly stock build of SSH and git, and the power was probably like 30W when idle. Our team also grew from 2.5 to 5 or 6 while I was there, so the amortized cost dropped even further as we grew, rather than growing linearly like GitHub does.
