Thinking about dual-booting my laptop but terrified by secure boot, bootloaders in general, and Windows breaking itself in a way I can't fix.

    @flup Some Linux distros ask and will just automatically create a new partition and install Grub as the bootloader.

    @flup Alternatively just use something like Puppy Linux which will happily run from a USB. I do have dual boot on an Acer laptop but could never get a HP one to behave, so I guess it's all quite hardware dependent. So try reading up on your brand of laptop, even the model series to see if anyone has already done it. #Linux #DualBoot

    @flup Just make sure you have a backup, and that you know how to retrieve your bitlocker recovery password. Tbh I got fed up having to reinstall Grub and reset bitlocker every time the IT folk at work got hold of my work laptop, so just switched to single boot like my personal laptops for the last twenty years. Unless you have to have a specific program or a cranky IT dept, Linux has been good enough for years now.
