Also, I don't like the way Outlook and Thunderbird integrate calendaring with email. I want different apps to do different things! Yes I understand that calendar coordination is carried out by sending ics files over email, but calendars can still be standalone applications.

This makes sense to me. A physical calendar is in my kitchen. A digital calendar is usually more related to "official business" and work. (like bank stuff, and appointments) The physical calendar has like people's birthday parties on saturday or sunday. Also the physical calendar has a little more soul and whimsy. Goats in trees or nature pics. Sorry if I got too invested in your post :)

@eamon Totally agree, though I'll admit my own preference mostly came about when I started running, and the convention among runners had already seemed to be well-established in that one's "running week" was Monday through Sunday (i.e., it was easier to adopt than to resist).

@eamon I like sunday on first cause the week then looks symmetrical. In German, Wednesday is called "Mittwoch" (mid-week) and this then fits so well
