#Australia is reducing its #climate #science capabilities... I guess you need a professional spokesperson to say the following with a straight face --- "The proposed changes sharpen our effort by reducing activity in selected areas including atmospheric chemistry modelling, Indo-Pacific ocean dynamics and some operational support so we can better align our climate portfolio with our future science priorities, and deliver the strongest possible outcomes for Australia" #AusPol

@wavygk@mastodon.nz it's shocking how fast empires can collapse. 20 years ago I would have never thought it would happen in my lifetime but now I'm not so sure. The US and UK are leading the fall but a lot of the Global North seems to be in free fall.

@wavygk@mastodon.nz I think they say these things with a straight face by not actually processing what they're saying. Otherwise they'd combust in an explosion of fine BS & cognitive dissonance. BTW I'm still waiting on a price for a line of old science books ;-)
