I need people to realize that how the people in power treat immigrants is how they would treat every single person they have power over if they could get away with it. And the longer we let them get away with, the more bold they will become. The violence happening against #minneapolis and the #twincities and in greater #minnesota as well as other communities around the U.S. is the same violence that has been done at our borders for decades. What happens on the margins will happen at the center.

This is not to say what is happening now is the same, but rather that it is an expansion. Black and brown folks have been dealing with this violence for generations. White folks smarter than I have fought against it as well. It took me until 2020 to truly realize the extend of the violence wrought against what people in power consider the "margins" of society. I will not waste energy on shame or guilt for taking so long, though it humbles me that it took until then. But there's work to do.

@pmbrandvold They've had decades of practice against #homeless people but #TheSilenceContinues simply because no one gives a fuck about 771,000 people.
