This contract is clearly designed to enable both Trump's mass deportation campaign, and his move to use ICE to manipulate the midterm elections. But it’s also a reminder of how deeply entwined Canada's elites are with US corporate and government interests. If the Carney government is serious about Canadian economic independence, it should move to block this contract immediately, with new legislation if necessary.
