@rooneymcnibnug People don't want war. People want peace, family, friends, to keep busy, to provide. Politicians want war. Old billionaire politicians with investments in oil and land, blackmailed by Russia, Israel, and who knows how many other billionaires, backed into a corner with nothing to lose, are the worst kind.

@rooneymcnibnug I saw the animated version first and loved it, I then got all the graphical novel versions and it was even more of the goodness. Highly recommended. To add, I think reading the graphical novel taught me the Iranian history more deeply than the world history classes I had in various schools.

@rooneymcnibnug@mastodon.social I have read Persepolis and I might read it again. If you haven't read it, you definitely ought to--and if you’re not into graphical novels (or graphical memoirs), this is a good way to start.
