@molly0xfff@hachyderm.io HA HA! Fidelity is using a horrible currency for their unit of measure! Actually there's an interesting point to be made here that Fidelity looks like they are very close to making but are afraid of actually making. Measuring home price in other units, such as "Average salary" (though I think median salary is prefered to offset the impact at the extreme ends) does provide an informative graph that may have genuine value if you wanted to question the value of a fiat currency, shouldn't you be using a more diversified index, such as a standardized breadbasket? Or maybe a more stable and recognizable good, like an actual basket of bread? Sure, most people don't buy their bread in baskets, but it's funny enough to overlook that. Any discussion about the decreasing value of a fiat currency should probably include a discussion about contracgts and labor. My salary and rent are good examples of things that actually create an anchor for the value of a fiat currency, though I'm sure those with long term buisness contracts would hold the contracts they hold as having a higher significance.
