To avoid bandying around a slew of positive adjectives 𝘢𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘮, I thought I’d throw out a few bits of trivia about 𝘈𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘹𝘢𝘴 instead.
“Oye Como Va” was a 1960 hit by Tito Puente (famously accused of murdering a corrupt nuclear power plant executive in the 1995 Simpsons episode “Who Shot Mr. Burns”). According to his son, Puente wasn’t originally a fan of the cover, but then the royalties started coming in from the 5x platinum album. “He didn’t complain after that” is the quote. (cont)

The recording members of 𝘈𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘹𝘢𝘴 (Gregg Rolie, David Brown, Michael Shrieve, Jose “Chepito” Areas, and Carlos himself) were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame together in 1998. Blues Traveler’s harmonica player John Popper, inducted them with a decent speech (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBNY-v4GBmY). I’d also recommend their acceptance speech, just to hear Shrieve’s tale on how he got invited to join Carlos Santana’s band based on a jam session at the Fillmore East (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_mS95qv95M).
