@thisislieven@c.im @RandamuMaki@mstdn.social @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu I get the feeling. Sadly, still too many national interests in play that work against a better EU harmonization. That’s the nature of the beast. Though I still get surprised when initiatives like this one works. Better to make slow steps than be divided again (which a few people still prefer and may gain from). But a united Europe is a stronger Europe. 💪🇪🇺

@dmian@mastodon.social It's almost always national interests through the EU Council. Sadly, a divided EU actually erodes national sovereignty and hands it to hostile actors instead. I'm with you that it's surprising when something positive does happen. Yet, WERO is a private initiative and the rollout has been rocky. The Digital Euro, in practice it doesn't change much on national level which makes it politically less a minefield. I'm curious to see what happens when things get serious and some US providers and/or the US government starts applying pressure - which they will. @RandamuMaki@mstdn.social @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu
