@dmian@mastodon.social It's just infuriating that 'we need to manage 27 countries' is too often seen as 'too much effort that will take forever' rather than 'this will take a long time and requires a lot of effort'. The former meaning you shut it down before even trying and the latter recognising you better start today as it will take a few years. And then, in the end action comes when the situation suddenly becomes dire even though everyone could see it coming a decade ago. I miss the European spirit. Not all the way back in history (well that was dark) but between roughly the end of WWII and the Lisbon Treaty. That's when the good stuff happened - 20 and more years ago.
