@RandamuMaki@mstdn.social I'm no expert but I believe both Wero and the digital euro are alternatives to Stripe, at least once the full rollout of features is there. Wero is explicitly suited for this as I understand it, even more so once aligned with similar other national or regional systems.

@RandamuMaki@mstdn.social @thisislieven@c.im @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu For international transfers and payments, I think the most probable way is systems interconnection. Instead of everybody using the American systems, different systems (like European SEPA and similar in other regions) gets interconnected and instant operations are moved from one system to the other. Though something like this may take years, and many agreements need to be signed.

@RandamuMaki@mstdn.social @thisislieven@c.im @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu Wero is derived from iDeal, which has been handling ecommerce payments in the Netherlands for, I want to say... 15-20 years now? It does that through SEPA so it's not quite an aggregator like Stripe is, but that means Wero *would* be a perfectly adequate payment processor within EU.

WERO is by far not an alternative to the digital Euro. It is more an alternative to PayPal. The digital Euro offers besides mobile paymentd also an alternative to hard cash, so it is not only a digital online payment system. It also works offline, and it allows anonymous Transaktion between stakeholderd (i.e. the ecb will not know, what vor where you bought something offline, only the two involved parties will know). @RandamuMaki@mstdn.social @thisislieven@c.im @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu

@RandamuMaki@mstdn.social @thisislieven@c.im @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu I am using Stancer and Mollie as regular alternatives to Stripe. Cheaper and made in Fr and Nl. Integrated in many shopping apps so very easy to manage.
