@Catha@masto.es yeah, sure, be realistic. How many people will buy Pixel phone (in some markets they are realy hard to buy) and degoogle it with GrapheneOS or other ROM? The issue here is that you don't have any choice on the market. More over on many markets big players are taking down their services and replacing it with Google/Apple. For example look at VISA/MasterCard. Both was ofering SIMcentric and HCE payments. Both resigned for ApplePay/GooglePay. For them this is simple cost calculation.

@wod0bow@mastodon.social Now you take a wrong example. Pixel phone IS Google buy one then you do that because you don't care for you privacy. There are more and more countries within Europe developing their own phone, with own OS and not Google dependent. I have one, because we've done some research. Yes it came with Google apps, because for some things you still need them - go blame the gouvernements! - but they can - and on my phone are - all be deleted. If you really want to de-google, as said, blame the gouvernements. I read there's another datacenter build in Holland, in a part what they also seem to call datacenter valley. Why? Because people still use the Microsoft and/or Google cloud, whilst wining over their privacy on their phone and computer...
