@wod0bow@mastodon.social Now you take a wrong example. Pixel phone IS Google buy one then you do that because you don't care for you privacy. There are more and more countries within Europe developing their own phone, with own OS and not Google dependent. I have one, because we've done some research. Yes it came with Google apps, because for some things you still need them - go blame the gouvernements! - but they can - and on my phone are - all be deleted. If you really want to de-google, as said, blame the gouvernements. I read there's another datacenter build in Holland, in a part what they also seem to call datacenter valley. Why? Because people still use the Microsoft and/or Google cloud, whilst wining over their privacy on their phone and computer...

@Catha@masto.es 1. You can't have GrapheneOS without Pixel (yet).So... "This is the way". 2. There are just a few companies that providing Google independent OS (I don't count chinese brands). 3. Even if someone want to use alternative software without Google. What you will tell them? Don't use any of your paid or free services, stop using banking apps, payments etc.? In many cases you even can't open a locker with the package that was sent to you. I'm sure that everyone will be excited about that!

@Catha@masto.es one more thing is also good to mention... Windows Mobile/Phone died just becouse lack of Apps and dev support. More over many good alternative apps on that platform was killed by service providers. UE punished MS for adding browser to the OS. Somehow Google was not punished for GooleMobileServices on almost every Phone/App. Interesting don't you think?
