One major headache *any* single payer proposal has to contend with is, ironically, UNIONS.
Many union contracts include generous healthcare benefits which were negotiated *at the expense of* higher wages, which means that SP would effectively make those negitations moot.

Let's say that you're a union negotiator. You agree to waive, say, a $5/hour wage increase in return for a more generous healthcare package, and sign a 5-year contract. 2 years into the contract, M4A goes into effect. Suddenly you're getting fully comprehensive healthcare...
