Re. *how much* the average person's taxes would go up (vs. how much they would save on premiums, deductibles & co-pays), that also varies widely based on a host of assumptions.

One major headache *any* single payer proposal has to contend with is, ironically, UNIONS. Many union contracts include generous healthcare benefits which were negotiated *at the expense of* higher wages, which means that SP would effectively make those negitations moot.
