It seems pretty clear to me, being able to test iPadOS beside macOS, that even with macOS 27 the Liquid Glass UI is never going to look as good as it does on a HDR OLED display. It looks several times glossier and more crisp when I switch my desktop monitor over to HDR (which I never use), and even better still on the iPad's OLED. This feels like a generational shift as big as the Retina Display, and I think most people are oblivious to it — since no Mac currently comes with a HDR OLED screen

When I turn HDR back off on my monitor, Liquid Glass looks so flat and dull. There really is a stark contrast — this is a UI designed for HDR brightness values at a per-pixel level. The upshot of this is that the upcoming OLED MacBook Ultra is going to look incredible (and make every other Mac look like garbage). But I can tell right now that my next desktop monitor needs to be a ProMotion OLED or it's not gonna be worth upgrading
