As someone that maintains two popular projects, I know how embarrassing it is to get complaints from people who joined a server that suddenly shut down without warning.
If we want people to actually join us, we need to direct them to a stable home.

@dansup@mastodon.social @Mastodon@mastodon.social don't get me wrong, you're doing great work. But I honestly suspect that the fedi's reaction to any influx of new users shows that the fedi community actually doesn't even want to grow. We like being a niche.
