Had my closest friend over last night. It’s perhaps the least urgent of all problems, but we talked about how middle age, for family men like us, is a new phase in life, and needs to be approached as such. The most urgent needs are addressed, and the big decisions are taken. Now we need to decide what we’re going to do with the rest of our lives. It’s a solvable problem. But if we act like the solution will come by itself, we’re asking for trouble.
