I want to build a 80x25 character display of out of 16 segment (plus dot) white LED modules. I found some four character modules that are 40.4x16mm, so I could do 40 80.8x80mm boards for a total of 808x400mm, and based on the 5mA per segment at 3V, about 500W max power draw, though multiplexing seems obligatory here. The problem is I would have to solder tens of thousands of connections since SMD versions of these don't seem to exist. cc @gsuberland@chaos.social #HardwareHacking #Electronics
