Since I am on the subject of Olive Garden, which claims to be an Italian restaurant, I have a question for my actually Italian friends like @stefano@mastodon.bsd.cafe .
How much heavy cream is actually used in authentic Italian cuisine? Because I am convinced every single thing at Olive Garden contains heavy cream. The salads eventually end up with a dressing that is at least partially heavy cream based. I think the breadsticks are somehow made with it. Hell, I think the water probably contains trace elements due to proximity exposure.
Olive garden is disgusting and hardly authentic Italian. But I am genuinely curious about the heavy cream content of actual Italian dishes. Because those two dudes on Youtube that say, "Not Approved!" seem quite offended whenever heavy cream shows up.

@nuintari@mastodon.bsd.cafe @stefano@mastodon.bsd.cafe heavy cream doesn't even exist in Italy. You can find panna da cucina, which is lighter, and it's used for a limited number of dishes (mostly in sauces for pasta) but they're the exception, to the point that panna is often explicitly mentioned in their names
