I was academically gifted. Verbal comprehension in the 86th percentile. Working memory in the 99th. My school put me on the college track — the most independent one. But my adaptive behavior was in the 4th percentile. Socialization in the 1st. I couldn't initiate tasks, couldn't cook a meal, couldn't manage daily life.
