@quinn@social.circl.lu @rysiek@mstdn.social At the time I was part of the network engineering team at the University of Pennsylvania. We were having a discussion about what we should use for our campus information system. We felt that Gopher was not so user friendly, and the world wide web was just too new. So we decided to develop something ourselves. Sigh.
Needless to say, that project never really got off the ground as everything rapidly shifted to HTML and the web.

@hal_pomeranz@infosec.exchange @rysiek@mstdn.social honestly the early web was not fun or easy to use. It was almost a one way road, sometimes it was easier to restart than navigate back at times. Then one day my sysadmin pulled me in to his office to show me the gui web. I literally fell over. I was floored. When I could speak again I said "everything is going to change" And then it did.
