if you are learning or inexperienced it helps to slow down with those Japanese type saws. I actually like them a lot. I own a few, but they have a different feel and technique from the western type saws.

@felis_catus_domesticus@toot.community Thanks for the tip. Luckily I have a lot of off cuts from my previous DIY project so I’ll practice my Japanese saw moves with those scrap pieces. In Tokyo, there’s a municipally operated camp site cum woodwork workshop where they let you use all kinds of nifty electric tools for a nominal fee. So I could try my luck with a bandsaw or something, but it would be nice to have basic hand saw skills too! 😊
