Here's Pixelfed/Loops/Sup's funding model. Just patreon, github sponsors, and nlnet for grant-funded milestones.
@dansup@mastodon.social says when it comes to money, there are always strings attached ("That's not villainy, that's just gravity"). That's why he wants to bootstrap his own fundraising through end-user channels.

@evan@cosocial.ca asks an important question about the "For You" feed and how it works. @dansup@mastodon.social says it's completely opt-outable via the app settings, if you don't want that kind of tracking. Additionally, the metrics gathered only affect your own For You feed, and it does not feed into the global algorithm.
