@FknHannu@zeroes.ca It's not about the technology, though. It's not about intelligence, either. I've had the exact same discussion with people who use their cars every day. They can't figure out how I get through a week without using a car for anything. Go back 100, even 50 years, and people were very happy with their modern, convenient lives. "I do fine without this new tech" is not the killer argument people think it is. What's more useful is to look at social and life improvements. Cars seemed like they were improving things, but it's pretty clear now they weren't a good choice. AI? Some things about it are good, but a lot of the time the general public is using it as a toy. I've seen good use cases for it in research and business, but not as many for personal use. It's definitely suffering from a hype problem.

@FknHannu@zeroes.ca I would probably get more art sales if ChatGPT and other image-generating bots were to disappear overnight. People would pay for real hand-crafted art again instead of downloading thousands of AI slop images for free. Bring it! Praying for it! 🙏
