I’ve been reflecting a lot on walkability of a town from the perspective of a child. I have a test I run every place I visit: can you give your 7 yo child 5 euro, ask them to go buy bread at a bakery 1km away and be confident that they will:
- find their way after walking with them a few times and
- not get killed by an SUV driver.
I have visited many towns and cities in Europe and cannot think of a single one that passes the test.
Can you? Where is it?

Noteworthy, but not very surprising, that most of the answers so far are towns in the Netherlands.
