This thing is like specifically designed to avoid showing me either the people or apps that I would ever want to share anything with. Would you like to share this album of family photos with this random person who emailed you once five years ago? Would you like to share this YouTube video via your university's two factor authentication app? How about sharing this email via Bluetooth?

@ricci@discuss.systems Cisco Duo absolutely is the best way to share a cat photo. I mean, the best way to communicate with all your friends is to send six digit one-time passwords.

@ricci@discuss.systems holy fuck is it wild who it surfaces. I had a VP at an old job I maybe sent 3 emails to because the guy was one of those "never write it down so there is no evidence types." No texts, nothing. Barely ever sent him a message on teams because he literally did not reply. Somehow, android share menu things hes my primary fucking contact at all times. My partner that I talk to over a half dozen mechanisms all fucking day, literally daily? Nah, 4th down the list, if I'm lucky. Somehow I gotta stare down that nozzles shit eating grin every time I hit share, with literally no way to order/edit/change any option without flat out uninstalling an app. Absolute chumps.

@ricci@discuss.systems I've wanted to scream about this for a while too, and inspired by your post yesterday I tried it out right then. “Lorrie Kim" is a reasonable pick, that's my wife. Henry Reister was my boss at the job I was laid off from in June. I have SMSed him three times total, most recently in December 2025. I have never sent him a photo. "Great Dismal" is an ad-hoc folder for sending my kid photos from a vacation we took in March–April, 2026. I haven't opened it since. "New Years Eve 2025" is, yes, from December 31, 2024. Of course (610) 707-8983 is the real prize here. What, I wondered, would it turn out to be?

@ricci@discuss.systems am I imagining it, or was the share menu more effective a few years ago? Like, it had a frecency (frequency +recency) algorithm and it mostly worked, based on the shared item type (image vs contact vs whatever)
