i never understood why admins care that much about relays, i have set none and the instance runs fine.

@gettie@fedi.catto.garden Small instances have no other way to discover content. Also it makes hashtag following much easier and the search function is actually usable. Cloudflare has some nice features aside from the proxying which you can turn off like adding DNSsec protection to the domain and http/3 support, although these are mostly irrelevant to the #fediverse which uses http/1.1 in its majority.
