@quixoticgeek@social.v.st @hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange @catsalad@infosec.exchange you don't them bringing a modern payment terminal to you is certainly getting more common these days, but they're decades behind Europe in banking safety and reliability in general. Eating the costs of a certain percentage of your customers getting their cards copied and used to order luxury brand purses every year is just a cost-of-business for American banks, because refunding everyone for something completely out of their control is cheaper in the short term than overhauling the system (and everything there is done according to the short term)
