@interru@hooves.social No, they aren't, and I know they aren't because I have been trying to improve things for six goddamn years and people keep looking at me like I'm an alien and being like "whats wrong with the way things are" right up until it bites them in the ass. It is so bad that I have almost completely given up actually trying to contribute to open-source projects. They don't want to fix their architecture, they just want small bugfixes. Everyone has been completely captured by sunk-cost fallacy. It is infuriating and it is has been a source of immense frustration for me for years. When I point out that there are serious architectural problems with things like, Rust, or security, or kernels, everyone just shrugs and says "well, we can't fix that now" or "it's good enough" because they are unwilling to take breaking changes.
