@krypt3ia@infosec.exchange I discourage young people from the field anymore. I'm not saying we should be bringing in the new generation, just that I'm a little surprised the community industry con isn't trying very hard either.

@cR0w@infosec.exchange @krypt3ia@infosec.exchange I had a friend who was trying to figure out what field they wanted to go to school for. They called to ask me about cybersecurity. This friend of mine is a woman. "Listen, do you like solving puzzles and investigating problems, even when you don't have all the pieces of the puzzle? Not only that, having your male peers disrespect or objectify you all day even when you know you're right? Then by all means, do not let me stop you. Sure it pays well, but I want to make sure you know what you're getting into. If you want to go this route, I'll help you, but don't say I didn't warn you. Needless to say, she reconsidered.
