For this week's jukebox music theme of Birds, the first song I thought of was "Winter Brown Bird" by Julie Babb. It was a staple of the #RochesterNY Golden Link Folk Singing Group's Songbook in the 1980's, and my dad and I used to sing it. I've spent a couple of hours scouring the internet for a recording and can't find one. But I'll post it here as a suggestion, in case somebody else wants to search for it with better luck. Maybe there simply is no recording, but if there is, I'd really love to see it included in this week's jukebox. "Softly as the wind blows The milkweed feet of autumn rain, Over the fields the brown bird goes, Singing its song of winter again. Singing of frost, it's cold refrain Wakens the heron and long-legged crane, And sends them crying, and sends them flying, Trying to catch the teasing sun, Before the freezing has begun." #JukeboxFridayNight #Birds
