  Great initiative from the excellent Helping Hands Opshop (thrift store) in Airport West, #Melbourne. Many opshops throw out goods that aren’t quite saleable quality or bulk sell them to exporters who create problems in disadvantaged countries. Instead Helping Hands is encouraging people to take the stuff for free and upcycle it

  Sometimes i miss the tech optimism of the early 2010s, when our gadgets were getting better and many startups looked like they were creating interesting innovations that would improve our lives rather than finding new ways to track us and enshitify things. Flicking through business books from back then feels like dispatches from an alternative reality

He talked like it was admirable about how he used credit cards (some in the name of friends) to get early business capital in a way that if not technically fraudulent was certainly spectacularly unwise and likely to create disaster for others who tried it.

  Feminine folk who have trouble shoe shopping due to big feet: I have made a breakthrough. Converse offers a unisex line which is largely feminine styles (lots of pink and purple) running into the mens size range. The store I’m in has pairs going up to the equivalent of an Australian women’s size 14/mens 12. If you’re in #melbourne the south wharf converse outlet has a bunch of bakes in these sizes for $30-$50 at the moment
